GLENCOE, Ill. (June 24, 2011)—The Chicago Botanic Garden presents the eighth annual Summer Dinner Dance on Friday, June 24. The black-tie soiree begins at 7 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres served on the Esplanade, followed by an intimate dinner dance in an elegant HDO Productions pavilion tent. The Esplanade is a 2.8-acre entry garden with dramatic annual gardens and elm allées, showy fountains and lakeside views. One of the most talked-about events on the North Shore and in Chicagoland, the Summer Dinner Dance celebrates the start of the summer season. Proceeds support the Garden’s conservation, education, and research programs.

The pavilion tent will be installed HDO Productions. Heffernan Morgan will create the beautiful setting inside the pavilion to reflect the surrounding Esplanade. Passed hors d'oeuvres and dinner will be catered by Jewell Events. The Ken Arlen Orchestra will play while guests dance the night away.

The Committee for the Summer Dinner Dance is co-chaired by Mr. and Mrs. John H. Bryan and Mr. and Mrs. James J. Glasser. Tickets begin at $600; tables at $6,000. The Miracle on Roosevelt

HDO Productions to provide a garden dedication tent for the Archdiocese of Chicago at historic Holy Family Church.

According to legend, when the Chicago Fire started in 1871, it was headed toward Holy Family Church. The church's pastor Father Damen, invoked Our Lady of Perpetual Help to save the building. The father promised to light seven candles before Our Lady's statue if the church was spared from the fire. The wind shifted, Holy Family Church was spared, and the candles were lit. To this day seven electric lights burn at Our Lady's shrine in the east transept of the church. In the summer of 1990, Our Lady of Perpetual Help was called upon once again to help save the church. With her help in a single day over a million dollars was raised and the church was saved from the wrecking ball.

The Nature Museum serves as the urban connection to the world of nature and science in Chicago. The annual gala is the Museum's largest fundraiser of the year. Brookfield Zoo Gala Gets Dolphin Theme, Underwater Look

On April 16, the Brookfield Zoo hosted its largest annual fund-raiser. The Zoo Whirl, this year called "Whirl on the Shimmering Seas," drew more than 700 guests and was inspired by the zoo's dolphins. Chair Kay M. Guyette oversaw the planning process with Vicki L. DeMar, president of the women's board. The event raked in about $1.3 million.

During the cocktail hour, guests snacked on Blue Plate hors d'oeuvres in the Seven Seas dolphin pavilion, where they watched mini training sessions. A separate, tented cocktail area had an underwater look replete with Frost's blue lighting and bars filled with illuminated glass stones.

Some guests had cocktails in the underwater viewing area of the dolphin pavilion; others headed to a tented area with a central bar.

The Flower Firm used deep blue and purple decor in the dinner tent to create an under-the-sea look, and overhead light fixtures resembled giant floating bubbles. The gift bag carried on the theme with a stuffed dolphin, sea salt from sponsor Morton, and a promotional message in a bottle from A. Marek Fine Jewelry, another sponsor.

Prepared for unseasonably cool temps—the forecast predicted snow—planners employed plenty of heaters within the HDO dinner tent, and lined the entrance with marquee tents. Trolleys were on hand to transport guests to and from the dolphin arena, saving them the chilly walk.

And despite the weather, the gala employed summery touches such as passed margaritas during the cocktail hour and takeaway popsicles, which servers handed out as guests waited for their cars.

For the seventh consecutive year, HDO Productions is providing the tenting equipment for Brookfield Zoo’s 30^th Annual Whirl Gala – the Zoo’s largest fundraiser with proceeds helping the Chicago Zoological continue its excellence in animal care and well-being. The Whirl is attended by over 700 corporate and civic leaders and is a highlight of the spring social calendar. This year’s Whirl includes the use of one of one of our more unique tents – the 5,000 square foot Parawing tent. The Parawing’s silhouette is the basis for our logo and will provide a truly unique environment for this year’s guests – first for cocktails; then as a lounge tent for the after dinner crowd.

This year’s event, Whirl on the Shimmering Seas, will celebrate the Seven Seas exhibit and the Zoo’s commitment to conservation and highlight the zoo’s resident dolphins. Guests will be bused back and forth from the main tenting compound in the Discovery Center parking lot to the Seven Seas exhibit where a satellite cocktail tent will be tied into the exhibit so attendees can view the dolphins at play in the dolphinarium. The Brookfield Zoo has a storied history when it comes to dolphins. On August 1, 1961, the Chicago Zoological Society opened the nation’s first inland dolphinarium at Brookfield Zoo, featuring dolphins—Vicki, Maggie, Power, and Tommy—who became overnight sensations. 50 years later, the Chicago Zoological Society continues to be a leader in dolphin care and research, managing the Dolphin Conservation and Research Institute.

April 16 will be here before we know it, so HDO needs to get busy. We begin installing almost 40,000 square feet of tenting beginning next week on Monday, April 4^th. Much of the tenting will be floored and carpeted with plenty of heaters on hand should Chicago’s spring prove to be chilly.

Chicago Botanic Garden - Antiques & Garden Fair - April 15 – 17, 2011

For 11 years HDO Productions has provided the tenting for the Chicago Botanic Gardens Antiques & Garden Fair. Our tents are filled to the rim with the best in classical and contemporary garden furnishings, botanical art, and home and garden design from more than a hundred exhibitors from the United States and Europe.

This year's theme is "Landscapes Transformed: Gardens of a New Era." The Fair will be held in and around the Regenstein Center. There will be tents over the Esplanade and the Rose Garden as well as vendors in Burnstein Hall, Runnells and Searle Courtyards, Nichols Hall, Joutras Gallery, and the Greenhouse Galleries. Custom HDO Productions Parawing Pole

Several years ago a client wanted to have a wedding ceremony in the center of one of our 1500' Parawing tents. We designed a custom pole and the event went off without a hitch.

We have another use for the pole. This time the bride wants to walk right across the tent. Since there is usually a pole in the center of the tent, we are pulling out our special Parawing pole. This years tent will be a little bigger. Our new client is using a 3000' Parawing rather than a 1500' Parawing. No Problem. We have outfitted the pole with a longer pin.
